State of things 2024-12-01

Wow, it's December already! Where does the time go? Anyway,
here's what I've been up to lately. As of my last post I was working on an entry for
Lewdie Jam 2,
a 2-month jam. That jam finished at the end of September. My
entry was
Healing from the Heart. It wound up being much more of a visual novel than I originally
intended; I found that I really did not enjoy working on the
actual "gameplay" part very much, while it was easy to just
keep writing more date scenes. And so the end result is the
dungeon crawling stuff only has 2 dungeons, each with the same
roaming enemy and the same boss. After Lewdie Jam 2, I spent some time working on new
placeholder sketches for my vore VN. It's actually been a
pretty fun process. I've got about 120 so far, out of about 440
that I'll need in total. Two out of eight routes are completely
sketched. In November I decided I wanted to do another short project,
so I joined
NSFW MiniJam #11.
The theme was "tentacles", with the extra optional themes
"one room game", "slime", and "see through". My entry was
Beckoned, a game
where you play as an eldritch tentacle monster summoned by a
faithful cultist. Gameplay is simple and consists of dragging
the tips of your tentacles onto different parts of her body to
bring her to orgasm. Each orgasm causes your tentacles to grow
and multiply. This project was actually super fun. I had to come up with
my own solution for handling the tentacle movement, because I
couldn't find any sort of built-in 2D inverse kinematics,
although I thought I remember Godot having some before. Maybe I
just missed it, or maybe it was removed in the transition to
Godot 4. In any case, my solution was to have each segment of
each tentacle bend slightly left or right each frame, whichever
would bring the tip of the tentacle closer to the target. I also had to be a bit creative with how I drew them to the
screen, so that the outlines would overlap properly between
multiple tentacles. Both entries came in 3rd place overall in their respective
jams. Much to my mild embarrassment, I'm back to playing
Skyrim.
My current modlist is remarkably stable, with no crashes in its
current state. I'm going a little lighter on mods than usual,
partially because I wanted to stick entirely to stuff available
on
Nexus Mods this time,
and because I didn't want the game to be completely
horny. It's Skyrim with some sex, not a sex sim with some
dungeon crawling thrown in. I even went back and toned down my
BodySlide
proportions a bit when I decided they were too over-the-top. This time my modlist does not include: ... among many other exclusions. The game is still a bit
buggy, but it's not the CTD-filled mess that I'm used to. I'd like to figure out how to get ENB or something working
so I can take prettier screenshots.Game dev
