The Countess of Autumnfall, 2 months pregnant

Successful conception between human and elves is possible, if rare. The effects of pregnancy on the mother are highly variable, due to the significant difference in gestation time and development speed between the two species. A typical human pregnancy takes about 9 months, with the fetus only reaching full size just before birth. An elven pregnancy, on the other hand, takes approximately 20 years, with the fetus reaching full size by about year 12.

In the case of cross-species conception, the duration and growth-rate of the pregnancy will be affected by the particular genes each parent contributes. The combination of elven and human genes can sometimes produce strange emergent results that are not typically associated with either species' pregnancies.

In this case, the Countess of Autumnfall was impregnated by Ser Merrin, a human knight visiting her court. Her pregnancy has been marked by remarkably accelerated development: at only two months pregnant, the child inside her is already estimated to weigh 6.5 pounds, typical for the 37th week of a human pregnancy.

Based on certain hormonal markers, she is not expected to give birth for at least 5 years, and there is no indication that fetal growth will stall in the meantime. Her physicians speculate that the child will effectively be adult-sized by her due-date, and are already developing a training and stretching regimen to enable the countess to deliver such a large child.

The countess reports that she is looking forward to having several more children in the coming decade.
